Vol. 5 gets off to a fine start with a great cover of Miwa and Saeko and their bandmates. From there, we move into choppy waters. It reminded me of Volume 7 of Yuri Is My Job! In both series', our couples head toward a painful confrontation. Miwa isn't sure what to tell Saeko about meeting up with her high school crush and realizing she still has feelings for this woman. As for Saeko, she seems to be going into self-sabotage mode. To use a Barry Manilow reference, use "Miwa" in place of "Mandy" and you've got Saeko's theme song for this volume. By the time the volume concludes, a reader will have to wonder how things can work out for Miwa and Saeko. How Do We Relationship? remains a stellar yuri series. Yeah, they both have a lot of emotional baggage, and there's (unfounded) trust issues. But really??? To take it THIS far? Uncle Joe sez: Come on, man! And that last page, at the restaurant, where the girl who's been hanging out with Saeko makes a huge, and I do mean HUGE revelation! And then we're left on 2 major cliffhangers. Possibly three? Gah! OMG I love this series, but geez, what a lot of heart break! Time to buy my ticket for next volumes emotional roller-coaster! ( Reviewed in the United States on October 15, 2021 )
- 4.0 out of 5 stars from Samuel Ray -- A realistic progression of romance, though it ends on a sour note : Once again, the two girls can't talk about themselves and this leads to more issues, which, if the preview didn't give it away, leads to a "mutual" breakup. You may have seen (or even been a part of) this sort of breakup, where it's more of a panic thing than a "lost feelings" thing. Credit for realism. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Zack -- The Trouble With Love...? : After picking up Vol 1 on a whim, I've found myself really looking forward to Vol 5 now with all the issues we were left with at the end of Vol 4. Focusing on just this volume though, it held a constant, growing tension that kept me reading all the way through. I wasn't sure which outcome I was hoping for because it felt like no matter what happened, it wouldn't have turned out happily. Thomas-Moore -- Sad, inevitable, looking forward to what's next : 'How Do We Relationship?' vol 4 is sad as Miwa and Saeko fall apart, but this is the trajectory they've been on for a while with their inability to find a good balance of communication in their relationship. It's not the end of the story, though, as they're still in the same circle of friends and hanging out together, and breaking up hasn't made things any less complicated for them. I like how honestly the manga has dealt with everything, and I'll be looking forward to where it goes from here. ( Reviewed in the United States on November 2, 2021 )
